Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What does Aspire Supported Accommodation provide?

We provide safe, semi-independent supported housing for vulnerable young people aged 16–18, including care leavers and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC).

2. Who can make a referral to Aspire?

We accept referrals from local authorities, social workers, personal advisors, and trusted agencies working with young people in need of accommodation and support.

3. What age groups do you support?

We primarily support young people aged 16 to 18. We also offer transitional services for young people aged 18+ depending on their immigration status and level of need.

4. Where are your placements located?

We operate across the West Midlands and surrounding areas, including shared and solo accommodation settings tailored to individual care plans.

5. How are support needs assessed?

We carry out a full needs and risk assessment in partnership with referring professionals. This helps us design a personalised support plan for each young person.

6. What kind of support do young people receive?

Support includes keywork sessions, life skills training, emotional and wellbeing support, safeguarding, and help accessing education, health, and legal services.

7. Do you accept emergency placements?

Yes, subject to availability and risk assessment. Please contact us directly on 0121 792 5342 to discuss urgent referrals.

8. What is the difference between the 16–18 service and the 18+ Trust/Exempt services?

The 16–18 service is for young people still under local authority care. The 18+ Trust service supports those awaiting asylum decisions, while the Exempt service is for those transitioning to independence after gaining status and funding access.

9. Do you provide 24/7 staffing?

We provide waking night support and on-call management 24/7 for all services to ensure safety, consistency, and reassurance.

10. How do I enquire about current vacancies?

Visit our Vacancies page or call us on 0121 792 5342 to speak to a member of our team about placement availability.

11. How is Aspire different from other providers?

We are values-driven and trauma-informed. We specialise in working with UASC and young people with complex backgrounds, offering high-quality support with cultural sensitivity and a clear pathway to independence.

12. What languages do your staff speak?

Our team includes staff and interpreters fluent in several languages including Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Tigrinya, and Kurdish. Language support is arranged based on individual needs.

13. What are your referral response times?

We aim to respond to all referral enquiries within 1 working day. For urgent placements, please call for immediate support.

14. Do you offer education or training directly?

While we are not a training provider, we work closely with local colleges, ESOL centres, and alternative provision to ensure our young people are engaged in education or training wherever possible.

15. Do young people stay with Aspire after turning 18?

Yes, many transition into our 18+ Trust or Exempt services depending on their legal and funding status. Our goal is to ensure consistency of care during this critical transition.

16. Do you have a safeguarding policy?

Yes. Safeguarding is central to our practice. All staff are trained in safeguarding and child protection, and our policy is reviewed regularly to reflect current guidance.

17. Do you offer employment opportunities?

Yes. We regularly recruit for support workers and night staff. Visit our Join Our Team page for current opportunities and application details.
